In 1978, when Sarah and David were 10 and 7 respectively, we visited Cicero United Methodist Church for the first time. The children attended Sunday School while we were in worship. During that first visit, both Sarah and David were invited to take part in the upcoming Christmas Pageant by Phyllis Chapman. Elaine and Lee were made to feel especially welcome by Faye Gregory in Fellowship Hall after the service. On the way home, the kids asked if we could come back to Cicero next Sunday. Needless to say, we did.

l&emount.gifSince that initial warm welcome, we have always felt at home at Cicero UMC. In fact we quickly became a part of the fellowship and have both served the Church in many ways. Elaine has always been in the Choir and she taught Sunday School and served on the Missions Committee for many years. She belongs to the Naomi Circle. Lee has served as chair of the Administrative Council, Staff Parish Relations Committee and Stewardship. Lee also led the fund raising for our Christian Growth Center.

The most important reason for wanting to be a part of this Christian fellowship is the church members themselves. Our fellow members genuinely care for each other and care about the world around us. The lay membership is willing to take the initiative to fill the needs of others, examples being the Care Committee, the Missions Committee or Grief Ministry.

We are blessed with the outstanding pastoral leadership of Rev. Bassett whose sermons are consistently outstanding. He is backed up by Pastoral Associate, Warren Covell, and a dedicated staff of professionals who help the laity in fulfilling their role.

Our music program adds a great deal to the worship experience, whether it be the Praise and Worship Team or the Choirs or the Bell Choir or Scott's amazing skill at the keyboard.

If you're not yet a member of the Cicero United Methodist family, we look forward to meeting you.
