This month’s spotlight is on Tom Roach, Bass player in the God’s Country Rambler’s (GCR) Band.
GCR: How long have you been playing the bass guitar?
Tom: I’ve been playing the bass for a number of years but I’ve been seriously playing for the past 6 years.
GCR: What’s your favorite type of music?
Tom: I like most types but Country and Southern Rock are my favorite.
GCR: What’s been your favorite song that’s been played in the God’s Country Service?
Tom: That’s a tough question because we’ve played some really great songs. If I had to pick one of my favorites it would have to be Amazing Grace my Chains are Gone. I got to start it singing a traditional verse of Amazing Grace then the band transitioned into this song – it sounded great and everyone really liked it.
GCR: What would you tell a person about the God’s Country Service if they have not yet had a chance to attend?
Tom: The service is not your traditional service. It’s “Country music with a message”.
GCR: Besides playing your bass guitar what else do you do for fun?
Tom: I love to ride my motorcycle, fish and just recently I’ve started playing the acoustic guitar.
