On June 9 our church sent $9,600, (a tithe of our Miracle Sunday mortgage retirement program), to the Sabine Pass United Methodist Church to help with rebuilding the damage done by Hurricane Rita. We met the people in Sabine Pass during our mission trip to Orange, Texas this past February. The local UMCOR staff recommended Sabine Pass as a church that needed assistance and the mission team celebrated Ash Wednesday with them.
A second mission team went to Texas in August to help folks in Sabine Pass.
