What is Our Future?

A church could be compared to a lobster. The only way a lobster can grow is by periodically shedding is old shell and growing a new, larger one. It probably finds its new home rather roomy for a while but sooner or later it gets crowded again. If a lobster could not replace its shell, it would have to stop growing. It might even die.

Our church is like a lobster that needs a new shell and is beginning to feel uncomfortable. One of the first "pinch points" is our Sunday School but there are many additional needs such as having a place to greet visitors on Sunday morning, having a place for the choir to warm up before services and a place for the youth choir to practice on Sunday morning and having additional meeting space.

The Facilities Committee is working to find more space for our ministry. The first step is to obtain an appraisal for the Conference Center and this should be complete in a few weeks. Our agreement with the Annual Conference is that they will move out if we need their space, provided that "one party does not benefit at the expense of the other."

If the cost is prohibitive, the committee will investigate other options.

New developments will be posted here.
