Cicero United Methodist Church

Rev. Everett Bassett was appointed to Cicero United Methodist Church on July 1, 1998. He and his wife, Sharon, have four children, Sharity and Clay Bassett and Aubrie and Joshua Gridley. Everett holds an Associate of Arts degree from OCC, a Bachelor of Arts from SUNY Plattsburgh and a Master of Divinity from Colgate-Rochester Divinity School/Bexley Hall, Crozer Theological Seminary. He was appointed a Local Pastor in 1977, a Deacon in 1984 and an Elder in 1986. Before coming to Cicero, he has served the Burke/Constable, Benton/Yatesville, Union Springs, Liverpool (Assoc) and Auburn First United Methodist Churches.

Assistant Pastor

Pastor Jack Keating is our Assistant Pastor and was appointed to Cicero UMC on July 1, 2006, as a Licensed Local Pastor. Jack provides staff support to our Evangelism and Hospitality ministry areas. Jack also shepherds folks through the process of becoming church members. Jack and his wife, Becky, came to Cicero in August of 2005 after 10 years of ministry in the northern Onondaga County area. Jack and Becky have three grown sons, John and wife Elizabeth, Colin, and Mark. On July 19th, John and Elizabeth became proud parents of Jack and Becky's only grandson, John H. Keating V, who will also be called Jack.

Director of Congregational Life

Sharon Bassett fills this staff position, which interfaces directly with our Evangelism Team. Our commitment is to provide resources to assimilate members and regular attendees into the life of the church and provide an environment for their spiritual growth. A process has been developed for follow-up with individuals who visit our church from Greetings on Sunday mornings to letters and/or phone calls the following week. The Director and the Evangelism Team plan evangelism events, such as the churches participation in the Cicero Community Festival. Three times a year membership classes are organized and offered to those interested in becoming a member of this body of Christ.

Director of Christian Education

Mrs. Sue Bonspille is our Director of Christian Education. She is responsible for our Sunday School and confirmation classes. Sue has had experience as a Teacher's Helper at Cicero Elementary School and served as coordinator of the Cicero Elementary Dance Program. She has also been a Sunday School teacher for the past fourteen years. Sue and her husband. Larry, have three children and five grandchildren.

Director of Music

Nancy Congdon serves as our Music Director with overall responsibility for our music program. She also directs our Senior Choir. Nancy is a life-long member of our church. She is a music teacher in the Cicero-North Syracuse School District and is a graduate of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.

Praise and Worship Director

Colin Keatihg is Director of Praise and Worship. He directs the Parise and Worship Team at our contemporary service and plays the piano and organ for that service.

Colin is a graduate of Syracuse University and is a music teacher at Baldwinsville High School.

Organist

Jared Shepherd is our church Organist. He plays both organ and piano at the traditional worship service. Jared holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance with a minor in economics from the State University at Albany. He also attended Oswego State University.

Jared also plays for special services during the year and for weddings.

Bell Choir Director

Ken Maughan serves as our Bell Choir Director. In addition to leading our Bell Choir, Ken also sings in the Senior Choir. He is always on the lookout for new bell ringers. The choir also plays tone chimes.

Administrative Assistant

Kim Marsh, our Administrative Assistant, can be found in the office Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM. Kim lives in the village of Liverpool with her daughter Keri, age 18 and a freshman at Onondaga Community College; three very spoiled cats, and her Yellow Lab, Phil, the Best Dog Ever. She attends the United Church of Christ in Bayberry, where she is a member of both the Chancel Choir and New Covenant Singers. In her spare time Kim enjoys reading, paper art, walking with Phil, watching CSI, and working out at Gold's Gym.

Child Care Coordinator

Shennen Janisch has attended Cicero UMC since she was in the 2nd grade. She is currently pursuing a degree in early childhood education through SUNY. She is responsible for child care during Sunday worship.
