THE PEACE POLE

Placed on the altar represents a commitment to taking concrete actions for peace. The Peace Pole Project was started in Japan by the Society of Prayer for World Peace founded in 1955 after the terrible destruction of World War II. The prayer, “May Peace Prevail on the Earth,” is mounted on a pole in many languages. There are now some 10,000 poles in 160 nations. As we contemplate the Pace Pole let us pray silently “that we may live peaceably in all our relationships and work for peace, which is the fruit of justice, rooted in faith, hope, and love.” To read the phrase “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in 89 languages, go to www.worldpeace.org/prayer.html.

A MEANINGFUL MINISTRY C-O-S-T

Searching for a new ministry opportunity in our congregation? There will be a cost, you know, but there will also be great rewards. Stephen Ministry is our congregation's one-to-one caring
ministry. Right now we're looking for members who are willing to pay the

Commitment
Of
Self and
Time

and become Stephen Ministers, remembering that the blessings will outweigh the costs. To find out more about this ministry, please contact Ellie Stivers or Linda Barling

EMAILING ATTACHMENTS TO THE OFFICE?

The church office computer is now 4 ½ years old. It works perfectly for what is required of it. However, I have noticed recently that I am receiving attachments that are not compatible with my version of Word and I can’t open them. In order to lessen this problem, please send your newsletter or bulletin article IN THE BODY OF YOUR EMAIL rather than an attachment whenever possible.

Thanks! Kim

GOING TO A HOSPITAL?

When persons of the church enter the hospital, the pastors want to respond with an appropriate contact, usually a visit or phone call. The only way we know of admittance is if someone tells us. Hospitals do not give out that information. Please contact one of the pastors when you know of anyone who will be or is already in one of the hospitals. Thanks for helping to keep us informed.

WELCOME TO OUR WORSHIP SERVICE!

We want everyone to enjoy worshiping with us today as much as possible, and your help in minimizing distractions is greatly appreciated.

Children are welcome and encouraged to attend worship. Nursery care is provided for babies and toddlers during both services.

For those with hearing difficulties, Sound Mate Assisted Listening units are available! Just ask an usher.

We are glad to have visitors with us, and want you to feel welcome. Please join us for coffee between services in Fellowship Hall.

ATTENDANCE REGISTRATION PADS:

Please take the time to fill out the attendance pads found in the pews. Our attendance is tracked by individual names, please PRINT ALL the names of those in your family who are attending church today, including children’s last names if they are different from the family name.

Cell Phones and Pagers should be turned off during the worship service.

Handicapped Parking - the parking areas designated “Van Accessible” are for wheelchair lift vans.

Please let us know how we can better serve the worshiping needs of your family.
