Look Down the Road! - Luke 21: 25-36

In an old Calvin and Hobbes comic strip this conversation takes place. In the first frame Calvin speaks to Hobbes and says:

"Live for the moment is my motto. You never know how long you got." In the second frame he explains:

"You could step into the road tomorrow and WHAM, you get hit by a cement truck! Then you'd be sorry you put off your pleasures. That's what I say - live for the moment."

And then he asks Hobbes: "What's your motto?"

And Hobbes replies: "My motto is - Look down the road."

Luke 23: 33-43

Some time ago I watched a television show called "Reasonable Doubts". It was one of those lawyer-type shows that today seem to be seen endlessly most evenings on the major networks.

This story was about a female defense lawyer who drew the unpleasant job of representing a man who had been convicted of two brutal killings as he went before the parole board. It seems he was seeking his release from prison after serving 14 years of his sentence and the lawyer succeeded in getting him released.

Response to an Imperfect Church - I Corinthians 13

An eight year old wrote this letter to God: Dear God, I don't know how you can love every single person all the time. I only have four in my family, and I can't hardly do it. This week there will be many family gatherings, and I trust all of yours will be warm and loving occasions. But the fact is, families don't always get along.
